The short version
- Everything here is informational. It isn't medical, genetic-counseling or legal advice, and the DNA check isn't a paternity or legal test.
- Only compare DNA with permission. Use your own file, and someone else's only if they've agreed.
- Results are estimates. DNA sharing overlaps between relationships, so we show the most likely options.
- You must be 18 or older to use the relatedness check or join the list.
These terms are an agreement between you and Lotusbud LLC ("we", "us") about your use of DontMarryYourBro.com, its free tools and the relatedness check (together, the "site"). Our privacy policy explains how we handle information.

Agreeing
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Who can use the site
You must be at least 18 years old to use the relatedness check, request a carrier check or join the early-access list. You're responsible for making sure using the site is legal where you live.
Not medical or legal advice
The site, its tools, articles and results are for general information and entertainment. They aren't medical advice, a diagnosis, genetic counseling or legal advice, and they don't create a doctor-patient or attorney-client relationship. Talk to a doctor or genetic counselor about health or family planning, and to a lawyer about marriage law in your state or country.
The relatedness check is not a paternity, maternity or legal DNA test. It can't be used for court, immigration, inheritance or any other legal purpose.
The relatedness check
The check compares two raw DNA files in your browser and estimates how much DNA they share and what relationships that amount is consistent with. Your files aren't uploaded to us. You're responsible for the files you choose and for keeping your device and any results secure.
The check is free while in beta. We may change it, start charging for it, or stop offering it. If we charge in the future, we'll show the price and any extra terms before you pay.
Consent
You may only compare a DNA file that belongs to you, or to someone who has clearly agreed to the comparison. Don't use the site to test anyone without their knowledge, including a partner, family member or child. DNA results can reveal unexpected family information, such as unknown parentage or relatives. Please think about that, and about the people involved, before you run a check.
Accuracy
We work hard to make the check and our tools accurate, but DNA inheritance is random and relationships overlap. Results are estimates and can be wrong, especially when files have few markers in common, contain errors, or come from people with many shared ancestors, for example in communities where marriage between relatives has been common. Shared cM averages and ranges come from published research and may not fit every family.
Free tools and information
Our calculators, charts, articles and state-by-state law summaries are provided as is. Laws change, and our summaries may be out of date or incomplete. Check the current law with your local marriage authority or a lawyer before relying on it. Grandma's compatibility test is for entertainment only.
Carrier check requests
Requesting a carrier check is free and isn't an order. Nothing is charged when you request one. We'll email you the options, pricing and next steps available for your region, and you decide whether to go ahead. Availability, labs, prices and timing vary by country, and in some regions we may not be able to offer a test.
If you go ahead, the test is ordered by a licensed physician and performed by a certified laboratory under their own terms, which you'll see and accept before paying. Only add your partner's details if they've agreed to be contacted.
Joining the early-access list is a request for updates. It isn't an order or a reservation.
Affiliate links
Some links to DNA testing companies are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Those companies' products, prices and terms are their own responsibility. See our affiliate disclosure.

No warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Lotusbud LLC won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for decisions you make based on the site or its results, including decisions about relationships, marriage or family planning. Our total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
If you misuse the site or break these terms, for example by analyzing someone's DNA without their consent, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses that causes us, including legal fees.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant, we'll point it out on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
